Richardson Racing set for Spanish winter outing

The Richardson Racing team will head for Spanish soil this weekend after confirming an entry into the opening rounds of the new Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe.

The Corby-based team – which secured the Teams’ Title in the 2022 Porsche Carrera Cup GB – will field two cars in the event, which will be held at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo near Valencia.

Teenage racers Robert De Haan and Josh Rowledge will share driving duties in the two cars, with both drivers making their Porsche debuts after successful junior careers.

Dutch racer Rob rejoins Richardson Racing having raced with the team during the 2021 Ginetta Junior Championship, where he took the rookie title and finished fourth overall with three race wins.

Josh meanwhile joins the team for the weekend on the back of an impressive 2022 campaign that saw him lift the Ginetta Junior title in his second season in the series, with an impressive eight victories to his name.

Both drivers will compete in the ‘Sport’ division, which is reserved exclusively for the Type 992 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.

“We’re really looking forward to joining the Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe this weekend at Valencia, as it gives us the opportunity to get out on track and do some racing during our winter break,” team manager Andrew Richardson said.

“After his successful season with us in 2021, we’re delighted to have Rob back onboard and it’s great to bring in Josh, who had some great battles with Rob during their time in the Ginetta Junior Championship, and who was a worthy winner of the title last year.

“We’re keen to maximise the track time available with both drivers, and on our first visit to Valencia, will be looking to secure the best results possible.”

The two-day meeting will feature a day of testing on Friday, with official practice and qualifying on Saturday morning being followed by two races on the same afternoon.
