Richardson Racing adds Will Bratt to expanded Carrera Cup programme alongside Comline

Richardson Racing can today confirm that it has agreed a deal with experienced racer Will Bratt that will see him join the team for the 2021 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season, with title sponsorship for his programme coming from automotive brand Comline Auto Parts (Comline).

The Corby-based team moved into the fastest one-make series in the UK for the first time last year running a single car for teenager Will Martin, who ended the season in an impressive fifth in the standings.

Plans had already been announced for an expanded programme in the series for 2021, with Martin returning for another season alongside another rapid youngster in Josh Malin; who secured the Ginetta GT5 Challenge title with the team last year.

The decision to now add a third car for Oxfordshire-based Bratt will further strengthen the team’s bid for championship honours during the season ahead, which gets underway at Snetterton this coming weekend.

The 33-year-old brings a wealth of experience from a range of different disciplines, dating back to the early stages of his racing career when he secured the championship title in the T Cars series, which was then the proving ground for aspiring racers of the future.

From there, Will went on to secure a top three finish in the Formula Renault UK Championship and then picked up titles in both Italian F3000 and Euroseries 3000; the latter having seen off the challenge of Le Mans 24 Hours podium finisher Marco Bonanomi.

Will has also competed in the Spanish F3 Open, FIA F2, the GP2 Asia series and the British Touring Car Championship, and is no stranger to the Carrera Cup GB having previously competed in the series in selected events during 2018 and 2019, picking up five top six finishes in ten starts.

A return to full-time competition will see him looking to add to an impressive career resume that has seen him stand in the podium in nearly a quarter of the races he has started, with hopes high of a successful season on track as part of the new-look Richardson Racing line-up.

Will’s deal with the team has been made possible thanks to an exciting tie-up with Comline, which will see his car entered under the Comline Richardson Racing banner.

Comline is one of Europe’s leading automotive aftermarket parts brands, exclusively supplying motor factor and distributor trade partners with an extensive range of own-brand products.

The proudly British company puts its focus firmly on providing parts that offer reliable performance in real world conditions with the competitive edge that ensures the best value possible to aftermarket customers.

Will Bratt, Comline Richardson Racing Porsche 911 GT3, said:
“I’m looking forward to joining the Carrera Cup GB grid for a full season this year, and am delighted to have been able to put together a deal with both Comline and Richardson Racing to make it possible.

“There are a lot of quick and experienced drivers on the grid this season, including a number of championship winners and plenty of people who have won a race. It promises to be a hugely competitive year, and I can’t wait to be part of it.”

Gwyn Richardson, Richardson Racing team principal, said:
“We’re delighted to welcome Will onboard as part of our expanded Porsche line-up for the season ahead. Alongside our existing driver pairing, Will brings wealth of experience to the programme and has been quick in everything that he has raced in his career to date.

“We are confident that Will can fight towards the sharp end in what promises to be a very competitive and exciting season, and are looking forward to working with both him and Comline during the year ahead.”
